"The 2022 Shiraz Malbec is possessed of a decidedly inky, almost resinous nose that is fully saturated in black fruit, dark spice and bitter dark chocolate. The palate is where the wine comes alive, and I urge you to dive into that, console and soothe yourself with it if the nose is as perplexing to you as it is to me. The palate is the antidote, to be sure. Here, the fruit is pure and unfettered, refreshing and quiet, as it is underwater before coming up for air. With blackberries and forest floor, it is exotic and laden with dry incense and wet timber. The tannins are grippy and bloody; they shape the fruit in the mouth and force you to move your mouth once the wine is gone from it. I thought I'd find this wine challenging, based on my experience today with the bouquet, but instead, I love the chiaroscuro experience I am having here. This is the most substantial wine in the 2022 collection."
