From a 1974 planting. Pure pale lemon yellow colour. An immediately opulent nose after the range of Puligny 1ers crus. 13.5% and one of the first to be picked. A very light toastiness shows here. Builds strongly on the palate, mostly pear fruit with perhaps a mango note, suggests Philippe. But not at all in the tropical fruit style previously so popular in other parts of the world. Pretty good length and the weight of fruit has tamed the oak. Interesting complex nuances including a touch of menthol at the finish. Indeed, properly persistent.
