"A Shiraz named for the block of the original Central vineyard bush vines planted in 1893, the 2023 24B is the second release of this named cuvée, and the rose floral perfume is framed by licks of sweet oak. In the mouth, the wine is firm and bloody, the oak a good match for the nature of the tannins. The vines that produce the fruit for this wine predate the establishment of Wendouree (1895), and there is something enduringly romantic about that notion. This is a wine of persistent flavor and texture, one that will offer magnificent early drinking due to its plusher fruit profile, but it will age gracefully as well. It's a superb wine. The more I look at this, the more I like it."
