Glaetzer’s Anaperenna is an unfiltered Barossa blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon that has always embraced its own excess.
This 15.5% alc whopper sure does that but, against the odds of its own numbers, it does so in a sure-footed way. Yes this is warm and rich but it’s fluid, juicy even, and the fruit itself maintains a freshness. You have to give it kudos for that. Asphalt, saltbush, redcurrant and even boysenberry characters are at play here, woodsmoke and fresh-roasted nut notes in minor evidence only. It’s sweet and it’s fruit driven. It pushes confidently out through the finish. It makes a good case for the bigger style. Drink 2019-2026
