“From 110-year-old vines on red slate and picked at 88° Oechsle in the middle of October and with an accordingly more moderate acidity compared to the Kabinett wines of the vintage (7.9 grams per liter), the 2022 Ürziger Würzgarten In der Kranklei Riesling Spätlese Alte Reben (Gold Capsule) is wonderfully intense, refined and elegant on the nose, with perfectly ripe fruit and very delicate slate and citrus aromas. On the palate, this is a hedonistic but refined and elegant, very saline and savory Kranklei Spätlese with a mouth-watering, saline and crystalline finish, with grapefruit bitters on the aftertaste. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023.”
