"A variety where the colour – an exuberant and compelling deep purple – kickstarts the joy. It’s cooling, with alpine herbs, ironstone, freshly rolled tobacco and pepper but really, it’s a symphony of cherries from black, spiced, macerated to morello. The lithe acidity and shapely tannins are hand-in-hand. It's refreshing and ready now, with a pleasing if astringent finish, but it will garner more complexity in time."

"Biodynamic lagrein from a producer who had the vision with this variety and has nailed it down righteously. A recent retrospective reminded me of this. This release is inky in the glass, big and dark berry richness to taste with strong, medicinal, cherry elixir, game meat. Sure is savoury, despite the heft of inky, darker fruits rolling around. Fine tannins stretch things nicely. Have to like that ferrous minerality, alongside the bandaid and smoke. It seems to fit ok, though, a rustic red with bold, ripe/sweet fruit. Go forth."
