"The big C. We are not supposed to give it a rating (on the wish of the producer), though I’m happy to do so. It’s the words that matter in a review, as ever. Importer: Giorgio de Maria Fun Wines!
A lot of black liquorice, red and black fruits, animal fur, almonds, spice and dried flowers. Subdued power packed Serralunga, though with more red fruit than black, a distinct smokiness, layers of lacy tannin, clean acidity, amaro herbs, sweet strawberry and smoke on a very long and distinguished finish, replete with a gentle grip of tannin. It’s a little rustic, for sure, but the wow factor is high. A kind of transparency, beauty and decay here that, I feel, is rarely encountered."
