'The 2023 Shiraz Mataro is earthier and meatier than the other wines in this 2023 lineup, with a plush mid-palate that shows firm tannins and long, drying flavors. A blend of 66% Shiraz and 34% Mataro from the 1893 Central vineyard, the 1919 Eastern vineyard plantings and the 1920 Eastern vineyard bush vines, the wine is blessed with flavors of sweet pouch tobacco, mulberries, red earth/ironstone and hung deli meats. This, like all the wines in this release, will likely be rewarding to cellar, as the age-derived complexity will only add to the youthful freshness and poise that it already exhibits."
