"45% cabernet sauvignon, 35% malbec and 20% shiraz from 1919 and '75 plantings on the Eastern and Central Vineyards. Bright hue; the fragrant bouquet draws one in like a moth to a candle with its interplay of cassis and plum on a positively juicy palate all the way through to the finish and aftertaste. Here the cadenced discipline of its siblings gives way to sheer pleasure."

"Complex wine with multi-faceted aroma and flavour that manages to be simultaneously dense and weighty, yet curiously light and medium bodied. Yes, I know, it doesn’t make any sense, perhaps best I go sit in Pseuds Corner for a while while I contemplate this further. OK. I’m back. Dried roses, cedar, menthol, hazelnuts, redcurrant and blackcurrant, a slight gum leafiness in with a smattering of liquorice richness. Almost juicy and fresh, certainly vibrant, all redcurrant and roses, running high compression tannin, clean acidity, and a long fine, but grainily tannic finish ringing with slightly tart acidity. Elemental, but still fairly approachable. Much to admire here, and certainly, its best days are a long way ahead of it."
