Excitement is high for the 2019 vintage with many recognising the incredible quality produced in both red and white wines. With a dry winter and long warm summer the vines of the Cote d'Or endured a reasoned struggle to produce a diminished crop of high intensity grapes bursting with flavour. Now in bottle the reds are bright, fresh and expansively perfumed while the whites are stunningly powerful with vigorous acidity as a balancing counterweight.
We have just received the current 2019 releases from two outstanding producers Domaine de Montille and Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot. The storied Domaine de Montille traces its history in Burgundy back to the 1730s. At the age of 17, Hubert de Montille took control of the estate in 1947 after the sudden death of his father. With drive and passion, Hubert built the domain's holdings and reputation to a point where he could then hand it to his children, Etienne and Alix, placed in the upper echelon of Burgundy producers.

The Confurons have been vignerons since the 17th century during the reign of Louis XIV but it was in 1964 that Jack Confuron married Bernadette Cotetidot to give rise to the existing domaine. Today, Jack and Bernadette still remain active in the family estate but have passed the directorship to their sons Yves and Jean-Pierre. As the younger generation takes the reins, the tradition of the domaine is not lost as they continue to craft superb cuvees from some of the most enviable sites throughout the cote de Nuits.
