The Loosen family has grown Riesling and produced wine in the Mosel valley for over 200 years. The current owner, Ernst "Erni" Loosen, assumed ownership in 1988, embarking on a quest to greatly improve the quality and international reputation of the estate, the Mosel region, and Riesling in general. Today, Erni is one of the most iconic and influential winemakers globally.
"Starting with the 2011 vintage, we began to age the wines from our best and oldest sites, from three different Grosse Lage vineyards, on the full lees for 24 months. After bottling, the wines are held for another one to three years before they are released."

2016 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr GG Reserve - $219
Wehlener Sonnenuhr - The Sundial of Wehlen - is one of the greatest vineyards in the Middle Mosel. This precipitously steep, rocky vineyard consistently yields some of the most elegant and sophisticated white wines in the world. Citrus and white peach flavours predominate when the wines are young, turning to a pure expression of the mineral soil as they age.

2016 Riesling Urziger Wurzgarten GG Reserve - $219
Blazing red and insanely steep, Ürziger Würzgarten (the Spice Garden of Ürzig) fills a picturesque amphitheatre formed by a dramatic bend in the Mosel river. Although it is directly adjacent to the vineyards of Erden, this site produces a completely different kind of wine, with exotic, spicy aromas and a mesmerising earthiness. No other vineyard on the Mosel produces wines so bursting with tropical fruit flavours.

2016 Riesling Erdener Pralat GG Reserve - $369
Erdener Prälat is perhaps the greatest vineyard in the Mosel region. It benefits from its 45° slope with perfect southern exposure, red slate soil and proximity to the river. All these factors, combined with its position below huge, heat-retaining cliffs, explain why Dr. Loosen never harvests anything less than Auslese ripeness from this site.
