"Founded in 1978 on the prized Kimmeridgian soils around the village of Lignorelles which is northwest of the idiosyncratic village of Chablis, Roland’s two young sons, David and Arnaud, work this 20ha lutte raisonnée Domaine. Ferments are temperature controlled in stainless steel and all but the Petit-Chablis sees a short time in 2 to 8-year-old barriques and demi-muids. Whilst the Vaudésir is a mighty Grand Cru the signature wine of the estate is the lieu dit ‘Vauprin’ which is one of the most elevated vineyards in Chablis and transposes an extreme mineral puissance. Their much hyped 2019s continue this Estate’s trajectory."

"Every year the Lavantureux Chablis Vauprin strikes me as one of the very best Chablis bottlings of the vintage and the 2019 is no exception. Pale lemon, some limeblossom notes on the nose along with a bit of greengage, first class balance as ever, this has muscle, a well-built wine with its customary splendid finish. Absolutely holds together. This wine is served after the 1er Cru Fourchaume and merits that placement. Tasted: September 2020"

"The 2019 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru has a linear nose, nicely focused and revealing saline/marine scents with aeration. The taut, fresh palate offers a fine bead of acidity, veins of sour lemon, and orange peel and strawberry flavors. Tensile from start to finish, delivering plenty of weight and harmony. This is a very classy Fourchaume that will age with panache."

"The 2019 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru has a lovely, pure, well-defined bouquet of mineral-tinged citrus fruit, dewy meadow and light flinty scents. The palate is taut and fresh with orange peel and a touch of yellow plum on the entry. There are hints of tropical fruit, but they are discreet, and the wine maintains wonderful focus on the finish. Delicious!"

2019 Domaine Roland Lavanturuex Chablis Grand Cru 'Vaudesir'
Limited - $199
"Pale lemon in colour, with a touch of viognier-style ripeness, but still elegant. There is a sweet glowing fruit across the palate, before a racy chiseled finish, with excellent acidity, and impressive persistence. This is on the Preuses side of the vineyard, but the style has, something in common with Les Clos. Tasted: September 2020"
