Founded in 2010 by Japanese-born winemaker Tomoko Kuriyama and French vigneron Guillaume Bott, Maison Chantereves is one of Burgundy’s most thoughtful small négociant projects. Both trained as oenologists at Geisenheim in Germany before building significant experience in Burgundy. Kuriyama spent many years working at Domaine Simon Bize in Savigny-lès-Beaune, while Bott held senior roles at estates including Domaine Etienne Sauzet and later Domaine Simon Bize, where the two continue to maintain close ties with the region’s grower community.
The project began modestly, with just a handful of barrels sourced from trusted growers who shared their philosophy around careful farming and respectful vineyard work. Over time the range has expanded to include parcels across the Côte de Beaune and Hautes-Côtes, along with a small number of sites further north in the Côte de Nuits. Despite this gradual growth, production remains deliberately small and highly selective, with fruit sourced from growers who farm organically or with minimal chemical inputs.
From the outset, Kuriyama and Bott have worked with an essentially natural approach to winemaking. Fruit is sourced from growers who farm thoughtfully, with many parcels certified organic or farmed without chemicals. Fermentations are spontaneous with native yeasts, sulphur is kept to an absolute minimum and cellar work is deliberately gentle. Reds are often fermented with a significant portion of whole bunches and see little or no new oak, while the whites are handled with long lees ageing and minimal intervention.
The results are Burgundies of purity and quiet energy. They carry the freshness and vitality that comes from thoughtful farming and minimal intervention, yet remain firmly grounded in the classical balance of the region. Over the past decade, Maison Chantereves has steadily earned a devoted following for wines that feel honest, detailed and quietly expressive of place.
Burgundies that feel alive. Fragrant, finely detailed and very easy to enjoy.
