Michel Colin was the third generation of his family to grow grapes in Burgundy, specifically in the prestigious Côte de Beaune. Upon retiring in 2003, he passed the property to his sons, Philippe and Bruno. They divided the holdings between them, allowing each to bottle wines under separate labels. Bruno Colin cultivates eight hectares of land across thirty different parcels located in five communes, with some parcels containing as few as just a few rows.
Colin produces wines from Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay, and Maranges. In the family winery located in the center of Chassagne-Montrachet, he vinifies over twenty different cuvées separately, with more than half classified as premier cru. He employs traditional vinification methods and ages his wines in barrels for 12 to 18 months, typically vinifying each parcel in a similar manner. Colin's style achieves a beautiful balance, both aromatically and texturally, highlighting the delicate minerality and nuanced complexity of each vineyard.
The 2023 vintage is an absolute triumph for Colin. The wines are full of character and exhibit more freshness and elegance than their 2022 counterparts. Superb drive and length are hallmarks across the board; however, it is in the premier crus where Colin's wines truly begin to shine.
