Rita Buss and Clemens Busch have been pioneers of organic viticulture in Pünderich since 1985, achieving biodynamic certification in 2007. Their son, Johannes Busch, joined the family estate in 2011, assuming responsibility for viticulture and harvest, while Clemens focuses on the cellar.
Their 18-hectare estate is primarily located in the Marienburg vineyard, a long and heterogeneous one area with changing slates, ranging from blue slate (Fahrlay) to grey slate (Falkenlay) to red slate (Rothenpfad) over a distance of 700 meters.
The winemaking process is meticulous, with grapes undergoing controlled maceration and spontaneous fermentation in large wooden casks, known as Fuder. Sweet wines rest on gross lees until May, while dry varieties mature until summer, developing a bold and distinctive style celebrated for their mineral-driven profile.
The wines reflect their terroir and exhibit a remarkable textural complexity. Full of character and verve, they certainly live up to their hefty scores in the reviews below. Make sure to get your order in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
