Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay is rooted in the old premises of Fernand Coffinet and his wife Cécile. They had two daughters who successfully divided the domaine between them: Fabienne, who married Michel from the renowned Morey family of Chassagne-Montrachet, and Laura, who is married to Philippe Duvernay.
Bastien Coffinet, grandson of Fernand, now oversees the domaine, which features an enviable selection of premier cru vineyards in the village. All wines, both red and white, undergo whole bunch pressing and ferment using indigenous yeast. A careful selection of different cooperages—Cavin, Seguin-Moreau, Tremaux, Billon, Radoux, and Eric Millard—is employed for oak maturation. The Duvernays prefer traditional winemaking methods, avoiding what they refer to as “modern techniques” and steering clear of the trend for reduction.
Coffinet-Duvernay is somewhat of an under-the-radar producer, but the quality of their wines is evident. The wines are pure and free of artifice, ageworthy, and satisfying. When compared to producers like Pillot, Sauzet, or even Colin-Morey from Chassagne, Coffinet-Duvernay wines offer a similar level of enjoyment while maintaining a highly competitive price point. Our allocation of these wines is minimal, so be sure to place your order as soon as possible to secure a bottle of these fantastic wines.
