Benjamin Leroux is a highly regarded winegrower in the Côte d'Or, known for his exceptional talent and expertise. He began his journey in Beaune, studying at the Lycée Viticole from age 15. By the age of 24, he was leading Domaine Comte Armand while simultaneously launching his successful négociant business in 2007.
In 2014, Leroux made the strategic choice to leave Comte Armand to focus on his own venture. This shift allowed him to establish his winery in the old Jaboulet-Vercherre location and deepen his expertise in the terroirs he wanted to work with. He prioritises quality by forming long-term partnerships with growers, compensating them based on land area rather than fruit quantity. This control allows him to dictate yields, ripeness, and harvest dates, as he works exclusively with high-quality growers who employ organic or biodynamic practices.
For over fifteen years, Leroux has led a dynamic cellar, working with around 50 appellations and tailoring his winemaking approach to each vintage. He increasingly utilises larger casks for whites, minimises new oak use, and adapts his techniques, including whole-bunch fermentation. Since 2018, his innovative cold room for grape preservation has enhanced fermentation quality.
Year after year, Leroux elevates standards, firmly establishing himself as one of Burgundy's most knowledgeable winegrowers. While he may release up to fifty different wines annually, each maintains an exceptional standard, with many produced in small quantities.
