With a long history in Piedmont, Vietti has been making wine since 1919. Since then, the family steadily grew the reputation of the Nebbiolo to be in some of the most excellent wines produced in the region. The most crucial revolution, however, came in the early 1960s when Cru designations were introduced to Barolo. At this time, Vietti was one of the first wineries to begin producing and bottling wines as single-vineyard or 'cru-designated' cuvees. Now in the modern age of Barolo, Vietti still maintains its position in the upper echelon of producers in Piedmont.
