Three back-to-back vintages, three Best Pinot Noir trophies, one Jimmy Watson. Liam McElhinney is one of the real talents of Australian winemaking right now, and Lowestoft is the proof, though don't let the Pinot Noir silverware fool you, the Chardonnay is every bit as good.
The estate sits on the Derwent River just outside Hobart, three tightly packed hectares carrying some of Tasmania's oldest Pinot Noir vines, planted back in 1986 around a homestead that's been there since 1850.
For all Liam's individual talent, this is very much a team effort, and one we're hoping to get him out here in person to talk through... stay tuned.
