Günther Steinmetz has become one of the more compelling producers in the Mosel. Today the estate is led by Stefan Steinmetz, who continues to build on the family’s holdings with a clear, measured approach. Based in Brauneberg, the domaine works a wide spread of vineyards, from Brauneberger Juffer and Juffer Sonnenuhr through to Piesport and the Saar. Many of these parcels are old vines, some ungrafted, and they form the backbone of the range.
What sets Steinmetz apart is the breadth of the range and the consistency across it. Few producers in the Mosel move as comfortably between styles, from lifted Kabinett to structured dry wines and more concentrated Goldkapsel selections. The common thread is control. Nothing is pushed too far. The wines hold their shape, with detail and balance maintained regardless of style or level.
These are complete, disciplined wines that speak clearly of both place and approach.
