This lower on the slope. All large-format barrels for elevage, older barrels. This just bottled – three weeks previously.
Interestingly, the 2019 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is more marked by its élevage in used wood than its 2020 counterpart—even though the barrels concerned were the same, just a year older! Exhibiting aromas of ripe berry fruit, warm spices and vanilla pod, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and tightly wound, with lively acids and powdery tannins, and it will require a couple of years' patience to show all its potential.
