Bannockburn Vineyards has been setting the benchmark for Australian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay since the early 1970s, when founder Stuart Hooper planted Burgundian varieties in Geelong's Moorabool Valley while the rest of the industry bet on Bordeaux. The estate's Serré vineyard, planted in 1984, is thought to be Australia's oldest close planted Pinot Noir. Farming is organic and hands off, and in the winery, winemaker Matt Holmes has followed the same rule since 2015: step back and let the vineyard speak.
This is a rare chance to taste the estate's range block by block, with several wines poured across both the 2024 and 2025 vintages side by side. Angus (Gus) Pollard, general manager and third generation of the family behind Bannockburn, will lead the tasting in person across four brackets and twelve wines, sharing with us the stories of vintage and vineyard.
