"Mostly clay and iron, east facing – they’re looking for fruit and elegance. (In 2013 they have separated the north- and south-facing parcels but will return to altitude separation from 2014.) Low-temperature fermentation, always below 24 °C. 7- to 10-day maceration and 11 months in older barrel. Bright purple. Quite rich. Rich and racy with a little sour plum character. Some real richness. Ambitious but arguably a little less distinctive than 7 Fuentes! 16.5+ Points/Drink 20014-2020" - Jancis Robinson,

"The east-facing, high altitude single-vineyard La Solana , home to an array of old vine Listán Negro planted to the traditional system of cordón multiple, gives rise to this eponymous bottling. The vineyard is small - just 2.5 hectares - with a north-east orientation and situated at an altitude of between 400 and 520 metres above sea level. The vines range in age from 80 to 110 years old The Suertes crew deem that the lack of top soil here brings more discernible mineral impact to the wines from this site, thus its wares are kept for a singular bottling. The fruit is vatted into small, open concrete tanks for a cold soak before alcoholic fermentation is made in French oak puncheons from the Allier, Vosges and Nevers forests. Like all of Suertes' wines, La Solana is bottled without filtration." Importer Notes
