Cullen Kevin John Chardonnay 2012

Winery: Cullen
Region: Margaret River
Wine: Kevin John Chardonnay
Variety: Chardonnay
Vintage: 2012
UOM: 750ml

"Made according to the biodynamic calendar from vine to glass. Estate-grown 36-year-old vines were whole bunch-pressed and wild yeast-fermented in French oak (one-third new). Has the usual Cullen magic, pitting very complex fruit against fine, taut acidity, yet making it appear the two were made for each other; the length of the wine is prodigious, its finesse equally extraordinary. Reached towards the end of a 100-wine tasting, I found myself retasting it when I didn't need to do so, and even committing the mortal tasting sin of swallowing some. 98 Points/Drink by 2027" - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion

“Cashew, almond, honey and spice with fruit leaning towards the citrus spectrum (grapefruit/lime/lemon) and some white melon. And do I imagine some mint and white chocolate in there? Intense and tight, medium bodied, a little chalky with a bright burst of acidity and some tonic flavours. Toast and savoury stuff rolls onto the finish and the wine has a kind of glossy honeyed ride, even though it’s in no way a ‘soft’ wine. Certainly has a pulse! Very good, but not really a wine for now: give it a couple more years. 94 Points/Drink 2016-2022+” – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
