Domaine de la Pousse d'Or

Domaine de la Pousse d'Or is steeped in rich history, with its foundations stretching back to the 16th century. The winery's modern incarnation came about in 1997 when Patrick Landanger purchased the domaine. Improvements to the facilities came shortly after the sale, as Patrick and his team set to revitalise the historic domaine.

Fastidious attention is paid to all aspects of the winemaking process and large investments have been made to elevate Domaine de la Pousse d'Or to even greater heights.

2021 Volnay 1er Cru 'Clos de la Bousse d'Or' Monopole
Usually $269 - Special Offer $249

"Sweet Spot, Outstanding. A more floral and elegant nose freely offers up its slightly riper array of plum, black cherry and exotic spice nuances. The lilting and beautifully detailed middleweight flavors deliver outstanding length on the balanced, youthfully austere and stony finale. This doesn't presently have quite the same depth as the Clos l'Audignac but the texture is more sophisticated and overall, this is class in a glass."

2021 Volnay 1er Cru 'Caillerets' 60 Ouvrees Monopole
Usually $279 - Special Offer $259

"Don't Miss! Outstanding. An exuberantly spicy nose of plum, black raspberry and violet introduce precise and refined yet powerful tension-filled flavors that are built on a base of almost pungent minerality while terminating in a markedly compact, austere and hugely long finale. This is terrific, stylish and classy but note well that it's unapologetically built-to-age. In a word, excellent."

2021 Corton Grand Cru 'Clos du Roi'
Usually $319 - Special Offer $299

"Sweet Spot. This is spicier still with its more sauvage-infused nose of dark currant, black cherry and whiff of green tea. The sleek, refined and less muscular but more mineral-driven flavors possess a velvety mid-palate that contrasts with the moderately austere and sneaky long finish. This isn't quite as vibrant as the Bressandes and needs time to develop better depth, but everything appears to be present for that to occur over time. Patience strongly recommended."

2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Charmes'
Usually $469 - Special Offer $439

"Sweet Spot, Outstanding. A fresh if restrained and equally cool nose of red and blue pinot fruit along with plenty of floral and spice elements leads to intense and super-sleek middleweight flavors that possess a polished mouthfeel while delivering very fine length on the moderately austere, dusty and compact finale. This is very Charmes in style and a wine that should repay a decade plus of keeping."

2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Amoureuses'
Usually $1,049 - Special Offer $999

"Don't Miss! Outstanding. A very fresh and exuberantly floral nose is comprised by airy red pinot fruit, exotic tea and spice nuances. The energetic and gorgeously textured super-sleek middleweight flavors possess a borderline aggressive minerality on the highly complex, balanced and strikingly persistent finish. This isn't especially concentrated and it could use better depth but the overall impression is pure lace and grace. This is stunning and a wine that should only become more so as it ages."

Domaine de Montille

Domaine de Montille is a renowned producer in Burgundy, with a history dating back to 1730. Hubert de Montille started making wines at 17 in 1947 when his father died. Hubert'sson Etienne is now at the helm of the domaine with his sister Alix. Under Etienne's leadership, the winery's reputation soared, and through careful acquisitions, it now has 37 ha of vineyards. After switching to organics in 1995 and biodynamics in 2005, the wines of Domaine de Montille remain shining examples of both white and red Burgundies.

2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru 'En Remilly'
Usually $189 - Special Offer $175

"Down 80% for frost, in fact there was no fruit at all except for a band at the top. Clear pale colour. An austere limestone touch infuses the nose. Really very classy, has held its line with excellent length. White fruit all the way through."

2021 Meursault 1er Cru 'Porusots'
Usually $349 - Special Offer $329

"Outstanding. Once again there is just enough wood influence to merit pointing out setting off the slightly riper aromas of essence of white orchard fruit, hazelnut and a whiff of smoky mineral reduction. As one would reasonably expect, there is more size, weight and power if not quite the same stony character to the bigger-bodied flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced and lightly austere finale. While this should be more than capable of repaying a decade of keeping, it's not so backward that it couldn't be approached after only 3 to 4 years."

2021 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Folatieres'
Usually $469 - Special Offer $449

"Outstanding. An overtly spicy and ever-so-slightly riper aromas include a whisper of the exotic on the cool citrus, Asian-style tea with jasmine hints. The laser-like, intense and utterly delicious medium weight flavors also exude a borderline palpable minerality that adds a sense of lift to the bone-dry, youthfully austere and strikingly persistent finale. This is excellent and I particularly like the balance though note well that it's going to need at least a few years of keeping before it will be reasonably approachable."

2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Usually $619 - Special Offer $579

"Here the nose is quite firmly reduced and revealing nothing of interest. More appealing are the dense broad-shouldered yet refined flavors that are built on a base of firm minerality while delivering excellent length on the crisp, chiseled and youthfully austere finale. This is a classically styled CC that is definitely built to age and a wine that's going to need at least 5 to 7 years of keeping first."

2021 Beaune 1er Cru 'Greves'
Usually $259 - Special Offer $239

"One third whole cluster. Decent solid fruit on the nose here, rugged perhaps. Dark fruit with a redder final touch, a mite of spice, good tannins, slightly taking the fore over acidity, the fruit stays equal to it and continues on well behind."

Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

2021 Pommard 1er Cru 'Les Rugiens-Bas'
Usually $569 - Special Offer $529

"Sweet Spot, Outstanding. This is also presently moderately reduced and revealing little. On the plus side, there is excellent intensity to the sleek, chiseled and delicious medium weight flavors that terminate in a lingering finish that is much like the Taillepieds, e.g. overtly mineral-driven, austere and compact. This should be excellent in time..."

2021 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru 'Malconsorts'
Usually $1,249 - Special Offer $1,149

"Outstanding. Very firm reduction completely flattens the nose. There is excellent verve to the nicely detailed if not especially dense flavors that possess an unusually supple mid-palate that immediately firms up on the impressively long and complex finale. This is surprisingly accessible today though I suspect that it will shut down once in bottle. I would add that this is very pretty, indeed stylish, as well as quite classy but it's not what I would describe as a classic Malconsorts."
